But here’s our take.

According to dictionaries, trilogy is a piece of literature or cinematography, which comprises of three parts and tells a single (though naturally epic) story. From this point we have to dismiss movies that have 4 and more series. Furthermore, productions studios do earn money abroad and if we’re into defining the film which brought most money to its creators, it would be silly to omit European, Indian and Chinese sales.Matrix

Now that we’ve done with details, let the numbers speak for themselves. Internationally top-grossing movie trilogy that collected $2.7-$2.8 billion is… Lord of the Rings! The reasons are obviously clear. The movie is based on a bestseller, a book which gave birth to fantasy worlds of movies, books, table games, role and videogames. J. R. R.
